本品為墨綠色粉末,易溶于水,略溶于乙醇和氯仿,水溶液綠色透明,無沉淀。
作為醫藥原料,可促進胃腸潰瘍面的愈合,還可用于急慢性肝炎及肝炎引起的肝腫大,肝硬化,促進肝功能恢復; 作為食用著色劑, 廣泛用于糕點, 飲料 ,糖果, 冰淇淋等食品; 作為日用化工原料,大量用于各種綠色藥物牙膏和化妝品. 對治療牙周炎,口腔潰瘍和口臭具有明顯療效。
